Global health, a work of art in constant evolution

A space where science inquiry and health equity combine with art and poetry to facilitate the shift from a culture of colonization to a culture of dialogue and reconciliation.

Redefining Global Health

Welcome to Beyond Global Health, a transformative initiative at the crossroads of art and research. Our mission is to ignite a profound shift in the way we perceive and address global health issues by fostering a deeper and more empathic understanding. By interweaving art with research, we can elevate the voices of study participants while dismantling the barriers of conventional understanding of global health and decolonizing the field, which is central to our ethos. This project forges a space where researchers, artists, communities, and the wider public can converge.

Call for Submissions

What does "Global Health" mean to you?

Beyond Global Health is looking to hear from you! We are interested in how people from the Global North and Global South (Minority and Majority Worlds) understand the concept of “Global Health.” Rather than exploring this through scientific journals and manuscripts, we encourage our audience to expand on this idea through poetry, art, prose, and photography. This approach allows for a more
embodied understanding of what it means to participate in and contribute to the global health movement.

We invite submissions from researchers, health professionals, artists, study participants, and anyone passionate about global health. Share your insights, experiences, and creative expressions with a global audience, contributing to a dialogue that bridges science and art to inspire change.

The Meeting of Science and Art

Human creativity has paved the way for poetry and science; both requiring the cultivation of intuition, perseverance, and consistency. The Beyond Global Health project embraces the fusion of scientific objectivity and artistic subjectivity for a more holistic understanding of global health challenges.

Innovation for Decolonization

This unique approach is a platform to draw attention to injustices and inequalities by articulating the lived experience of the marginalized and underrepresented. It provides a space to challenge historical dominant narratives by amplifying the voices of our participants.

Exploration of New Frontiers

The deepest levels of understanding and knowledge can arise from the collaboration between art and science. The bidirectionality of this relationship can enrich the interpretation of scientific findings.

Impact on Public Awareness

By harnessing the power of poetry and art, we can help shape the collective consciousness and cultivate empathy. Beyond Global Health aims to engage with the public to help spark conversations, foster empathy, and inspire action.
